Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet my daughter for lunch in Santa Barbara. She is currently a medical assistant at a dermatologists office, that happens to be across the street from Cottage Hospital where I spent a good portion of February through May at. I parked quite a distance from her office so I brought my dog Happy, she's my Queensland Heeler pup, and we enjoyed a beautiful walk in unbelievable weather. As we were walking around the block and the hospital, I noticed how beautiful the hospital was. It has been renovated for the past several years and still currently is. I walked by an iron gate that leads into a garden of walkways for the patients and visitors so they can enjoy the outdoors when they are an inpatient. I walked that garden many of days with my friends and family visiting me not that long ago. It then clicked in my brain that I am finally on the other side of that gate. When I was in the hospital there were days and weeks that I thought I would never get out. I was even scared for the first time that I might not make it. Well I was out! Walking my dog and thanking God for the glorious day I was having and prayed for the people who were in there. When I walked a little further I saw a sign on the Hospital. It read Ridley-Tree Pavilion. I smiled and thought I don't ever want to hear those words again. See that is where I had all my inpatient rooms. Good 'ol Ridley-Tree Pavilion. The nurses and docs were all great and you can't get much nicer of a hospital, but I don't ever want to be in that pavilion again! With a positive attitude, good docs, and for me, my God, you can get out and look in from the outside.
