As I was driving to Santa Barbara today I was thinking about this coconut oil craze that's going on. Granted there have been fads and trends to healthy eating for decades. Now maybe I am not educated as much as I'd like to be on this whole coconut thing, but from interacting with multiple dieticians when my youngest son was at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, I learned coconut oil was a medium chain triglyceride. I had to learn this because whenever my youngest had coconut oil, which is a common fat in infant formulas, he would become acidotic and basically fall into a coma. So we had to know what food contained MCT (Coconut oil).

Now I can understand that coconut oil would make your hair soft and smooth, at least the cuticle layer (I am a California Licensed Cosmetologist). But, as much as "they" say it will help you absorb fatty acids, Omega 3's, and give you better gut bacteria; does anyone question what saturated fat on a daily basis will do to your arteries? You know, those skinny tubes that take your blood from your heart to the rest of your body? This isn't scientific by any means, but I wouldn't be surprised if you were to start hearing that coconut oil isn't as good for the human body as they originally thought. It might even be harmful on a daily basis. Just a thought.....
Tip of the Day: Before you start a diet fad, do some research about what it will do to your body.
