#27 ~ Direction Determines Destination ~ Part 1

What if you could predict your own future?  I think you can to an extent.

In doing some work on myself, as I am going through a second divorce and feel like an utter failure; I always thought and truly believed I would be married one time in my life, and it would last 60 years like my grandparents. I am a believer in the institution of marriage, but as I write this and contemplate my life as it stands right now, I must look into what went astray. I might even say, "How did I get so lost on this life journey of mine?"

How many times have you said, "I should have seen this coming." Ah ha! You look back and you think to yourself, "I don't know why I'm so surprised, I should have seen this coming!" You've even predicted other people's future. How many times have you said to a friend, or family member, "You should of seen this coming! You saw the train wreck about to happen, most people around them saw it. Then when it happens the said person says, "I'm so shocked? I didn't see this coming, i.e. financial debt, my boyfriend broke up with me..... and you're thinking well, duh! You've been charging on that credit card for years! Or he's been trying to break up with you for months! We all saw it coming. Why is it that we can predict other people's future and not our own?

Why is it you can see their future and they can't, or they can see yours and you can't? If you really think about it you might have seen it coming, you just chose not to look. Someone might drop a hint, or circumstances have changed a little, some people call them little red flags, and in your gut you know! But you still choose to fool yourself and go in the wrong direction. Then when you arrive at your destination, or the train wreck happens, or you get fired, or divorced, or a break up, or you get a bad grade in school.... you act surprised or shocked. The truth is, you saw this coming, you kind of knew, you had those instincts, but..... hmmm.

So I will leave you with this to ponder until part two. We actually have the ability to predict where things are going, where things are headed. We have the ability to predict our own future in most circumstances. Look back on some of your past mistakes. You were there for every one of them! Could you have avoided it possibly, if you would have changed directions, changed the things you knew, but opted not to look at? Remember, everyone else saw it coming!
